New year, New blog. Or something like that.
In an unexpected yet surprisingly poetic and horrifically cliche turn of events i find myself itching all day to begin 2019 with a flood of productivity and creativity. I set this blog up a month or so ago in the hopes of finding an outlet for all of my, again cliche, opinions. However, therein lies the problem with spontaneous decisions. Consequences. Mine being time management with my degree and other commitments which i shall go on to elaborate. This post is simply to introduce my blog and ideally improve my grammatical skills along the way.
The name
I guess i'll start with the name. Poetry is a key interest of mine, i write poetry and have a poetry internship in Oxford so naturally, i wanted a poetic term to compose a part of my name. I have always been interested in Greek mythology, since my childhood and i hate to admit it but yes, Percy Jackson did play a part in my knowledge of Olympus. Alongside this Roman and Egyptian quickly took my fancy. Mythology seems to take a prominent front seat in literary novels and seems to act as a timeless inspiration for all creative writers. I chose Venus specifically as she is the Roman Goddess of love, sex, beauty and fertility; her Greek equivalent being the infamous Aphrodite. Venus also features in witchcraft and has darker elements such as her link to prostitution which Aphrodite does not have. This essentially makes her a dense and inspiring female figure of power which naturally, i am undeniably drawn to. The final part would be the alliteration or almost alliteration; Verse of Venus. This part is simple; i find it aesthetic.
What to expect
This section will just be a brief run down of what to expect from my blog.
1) Poetry reviews and recommendations
2) Analyzing songs, if this happens it will most likely be Ariana Grande songs cuz what can i say, God IS a woman and its Ari.
